Transcendental Targets
This is the title poem for my new book, a playful pairing of words not often used together. Transcendental, a big one, a little intimidating, feels like, "I think I know but tell me again" and targets, something most of us deal with every day. Many of us think of targets as round with a bull's eye or on the back of the green next to the pin. Others have financial targets for college or retirement or weight loss or gain. I am trying here to explore what it feels like to plug in to a higher frequency, the mysterious act of creating art with written words.
TRANSCENDENTAL TARGETS
I’m swinging on hot lines
Neurons bursting
Gloves off
Brain-blazing
Words singed on paper
Electrons spiraling upward
